Sneak Peek

It’s Friday!  Hooray!  Are you as happy about that as I am?   My husband took a vacation day and is assembling his new grill.  I’m happy that he is excited about it because I would like more grilled food in my life.  We’ve always had a grill; he just doesn’t use it that much.  Growing up, my dad would grill several times a week no matter the weather conditions.  My husband seems to be a fair-weathered griller.  That is the main reason I want a covered patio.  I figure if he won’t get rain or snow on him he might be more likely to bbq all year long.  Speaking of the covered patio, we’ve only received one bid so far and it was a bit more than my husband and brother-in-law had guessed it would be.  Figures.  I knew they were probably low, but I was hoping I would be wrong instead.  I would like a couple of more estimates before deciding if I want to spend that kind of money right now or not.

So far this week, I have only eaten out once.  We left work at noon yesterday and on our way home we decided to stop for Mexican food.  I ate less than I normally would there and it ended up being my lunch and dinner.  I took a peek at the scale this morning and it looks like the four pound gain from Sunday is just about gone.  If I don’t screw up the next couple of days, I will likely have an additional pound or two off.  Eating at home will be the key for success this week.  Grilled chicken is the plan for tonight!

Not much else on the mind today, so I will keep this short.  Hope you all have an awesome weekend!

    1. Thanks Gwen, I just hope I don't screw it up this weekend. I don't have a good routine down yet, but will continue to work on making better choices each day.

  2. I grilled a lot in my younger days, all year long. Like other Grill Sergeants I have grilled in snowstorms. Now I'm a fair weather griller. In fact I'm grilled New York Strips later this afternoon. Have an awesome weekend back!

  4. I seriously love your blog Roly! You have a wonderful way of writing you know. :)

You did great just eating out once and making a wise choice to eat less and save some for dinner. If I go out, which isn't too often these days, I do the same.

I'm proud of you on the scale news too!!

Enjoy your new grill and have a fabulous weekend!! :D

  6. Awesome news on the grill. There are so many recipes out there, especially with the veggies.
Also wonderful news about the four pounds. I can see you are moving along with all the adjustments. Before you know it will be a way of life.
I understand about the patio. We have a covered patio but it is in dire need of being replaced. Hopefully after the weddings it may get done...haha

    Enjoy your weekend

  7. Congrats on having a better week! Anytime you're able to eat less food than you would before, it's a success (especially with Mexican...those CHIPS!) In my opinion, grilling makes vegetables taste SO much better. I also love to grill pineapple...tastes like dessert!

    1. Oh I love chips and salsa! Yes, I like grilled pineapple too. I have it so rarely though, only with kabobs. That doesn't need to be the case, maybe I will try and incorporate it into next week's meal plan. Thanks for the idea.

  9. When I had a grill I didn't use it. Now that I no longer have one, of course, it's near the top of my wish list. :)

Re: your reply above--have you tried celery with salsa? It's one of my favorite summer treats!
