Weigh-In: July 14, 2013

This morning I weighed 383 lbs which is a three pound loss from last Sunday.  I’m a bit disappointed in that number, but I’ll live.  I had gained four pounds last week, so I am still up one.  I was a half-pound less a couple of days ago.  I ate well since then and was hoping to drop a couple more, but it just didn’t happen.  It will come off this week as meals have already been planned.

My husband bought a cookbook/magazine with diabetic friendly recipes and has planned out the next six days.  Meal planning is not his thing, so this was a huge move on his part.  He has been doing more than his share lately and I need to step up my part and help out more.  Keeping my mouth closed and not suggesting dining out will go a long way to help us both.  With meals planned you would think that dining out wouldn’t be a temptation, but we’re not used to cooking every day and it takes work.  Standing, at our weight, takes work.   I think this will be a good week for us and just what we need to get things rolling in the weight-loss department.

Grill is finished (except for one side bar) and we had steaks for dinner.  Yum!

It’s Sunday evening, so I’ll keep this short and sweet.  I’ll leave you with a picture.

Have a great week.

  2. I hate it when my weight is down right up until weigh in day. It seems to do that a lot for me. It's like the day I am going to weight, my body says you are going to hold some of that water today! You had a good weight loss though. Hopefully next week will be better. You'll get there, just one step at a time. Glad your husband is working with you on this. That is a big thing.

  5. Congrats on the loss Roly!. I find I usually don't lose everything I gained in one week, but it will show up by sticking to the plan.

  6. Hi Roly! I think you are making positive changes. They are a little 4 steps forwards and 3 steps back at times. It is long-term consistency that gets results. Everyday, measure and calorie count, and try to learn from mistakes you've made in the past to avoid the same problems over and over. (I only had a few bad eating habits that I did--nearly every day! Arghhh!) And just keep incorporating new habits, like your husband and you are doing. It takes time, even though it's a daily process. :D

  7. I totally agree with Gwen, you are doing wonderful. Three pounds is awesome.
The grill is really nice. Enjoy it well. Get yourself involved with grilling, it can be fun. So many recipes out there, start searching, before you know you will have many favorites.
    Keep up the great work.

  8. Congrats on the great loss! What a beautiful grill. If I had a grill like that I'd want to grill for every meal. Yay for your husband for making an effort with the cookbook and meal planning. You guys are on the right track! :D

  12. Kudos to sticking to the plan!

Do you have something like a Jason's Deli where you live? It was one of my "go-to" choices for dining out, because I knew I could make a healthy meal from their salad bar alone. (As long as I left the tiny muffins alone. :))

  13. Remember that water plays some funny games in the summer. Just keep your focus on your actions rather than that scale, and you'll realize you're doing great!

  14. That is a beautiful grill! And seriously, 3 pounds down is great. Forget about the previous week and pat yourself on the back for this one!

I agree with you, cooking every night IS a chore. What about grilling up extras, so every other night, you can throw together something from the fridge instead of having to start from scratch?

  15. Three pound loss is always a win! The grill is beautiful ... hope you enjoy it.

Hopefully cooking at home will become the habit and eating out the rarity!

  16. Congrats on the Loss! Three pounds is alot in one week, and it shows that you worked really hard! Meal planning is the worst, but trust me, it will become a habit. My husband and I used to eat out two meals a day, and its been well over a month now that we have cooked almost everything at home. Keep up the great work!
