Weigh-in: July 21, 2013

Yesterday I was in relax-mode trying to soak up every minute of the weekend and therefore didn’t post my weigh-in results.  The news is decent; I lost three pounds last week.

Previous weight:  383 lbs
Current weight:   380 lbs

Unfortunately, I stuffed my face yesterday.  I am consistently making poor choices on weigh-in day.  This needs to stop.   How stupid is it to lose weight during the week only to gobble down a ton of food on weigh-in day and undo progress?   Yet, I continue this behavior.  Sadly, the food wasn’t great and now I start the week with a huge surplus of calories my body doesn’t need.   This unwanted behavior is moving to the top of my priority list (if one actually existed).  I’ll spend a day or too thinking this over and then report my plan of attack.  It may be something along the line of tracking my calories and not going over on weigh-in day or something similar.

Besides my slip-up yesterday, I feel this is going to be a good week as far as my eating goes.  I have a meal plan for at least the first four days of this week.  I plan to avoid evening snacks and instead have warm tea.  I will drink plenty of water, more than usual.  Not sure why, I just have a feeling that I will make better choices this week (going forward).

It’s Monday and there’s nothing I can do about it, so I’ll just make the best of it :)  Hope you have a great week.

  1. Well first congrats on the three pounds...yaahoo.

Next forget about what you did and move on.

Third, just a suggeston if you really love tea as I do, as a treat it is so good in my books, is Bigelow Vanilla tea. I get the de-caffinated one. Oh my just smelling it is like heaven. Don't even need to add any sugar, it is such a treat. I introduce it to my TOPS group and many just love it.

Remember to stay on plan and you will do fine.

    Many hugs,

    1. Do not "forget" what you did. Remember it. If we do not remember history, we are doomed to repeat it.

  2. Well, I disagree with Anna Marie. ....in that don't just forget what happened. You have to analyze it. Dig within, and figure out why you are sabotaging yourself after a good weigh in. Until you learn from your mistakes, you can't move past them. You'll keep repeating them.

Beyond that, congrats on a 3 lb. loss. I'd love one, right about now! (or any week. :) )

  3. Yay! You lost 3 pounds! Certainly, you did eat better to do that. I have my weight loss meeting weigh-in on Tuesday night, so all Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday are geared toward making a great weight when I step on the scale. Nobody at the meeting applies this pressure to me, I apply it to myself. So this next week when you're trying to eat very tight before your weigh-in, remember that I am too, on the very same day at the same time as you. :D

  4. Congrats on the weigh in! And I'm happy to hear you talk like the mistake you made on weigh-in day won't affect the rest of your week :) I think that's a great mindset because it's what you do MOST of the time that matters!

  6. 3 lbs is a nice loss! I too have the tendency to blow it after weigh in days. My husband actually threw away our scale because he couldn't take it anymore. I'd use a bad weigh in to get depressed and eat and I'd use a good weigh in to eat because I deserved a treat after working so hard. Keep making plans for your meals and pretty soon, it won't seem so hard to stick to. I think overall you are doing great and are working really hard to make positive changes in your habits. =) yay!

  7. Yay! Congrats on the weight loss this week, you are totally kicking butt. You will figure out how to handle weigh-in days, and if it takes a few tries so be it. I know and you know that you are in this for the long haul, and eventually you'll get it down to a science. Keep up the great work!

  9. A loss is a loss, so take it! Yet, you and I are doing the exact same thing. I suspect you're just like me and the whole weight loss thing is a big inconvenience. I wish I knew the right thing to say to make BOTH of us snap out of it. All I know to say, however, is to keep trying. We'll get the hang of it eventually!

  10. Congrats on the awesome loss! The good thing is that you are recognizing your self-sabotaging so that you can correct it. You will do great this week! :)

  12. Maybe you should try to move your weigh in to every two weeks if weigh in day is a particular problem. If you are eating healthy you really don't need to weigh yourself every week. If that helps then maybe even start weighing monthly. Maybe it would help you to stay on track and when you weigh in at longer intervals you would have higher weight loss numbers and it might just motivate you to keep going. Just a thought! Congrats on the 3 pounds, that is still a great number!!!
