Down, but not out

In case this post’s title led you to believe I have lost weight, that is definitely not the case.  The opposite is true.  I have once again, fallen down and am struggling to get back on the wagon.  My eating has been almost a free-for-all, but I am hoping to stop the insanity soon and start turning things around.  I don’t have plan yet, but have a few ideas.

In the meantime, I will start with just three goals for this week and focus on them.
  1. Drink more than 64 ounces of water each day
  2. Eat 1800 calories or less each day
  3. Walk at least 2500 steps each day

Honestly, even as I write these three goals out I wonder if I am being too ambitious.  Sadly, 2500 steps /day is higher than my daily average has been for all of August.  That number is closer to 1900/day.  However, if I don’t make goals or promises, I might get nowhere.

No more hiding, I plan to post more often whether the news be good, bad or ridiculously embarrassing.

Hope you’re all having a nice weekend.  I miss you and will be spending some of my time this weekend catching up on all of you.

  2. You can reach that step goal just by taking a stroll down your street for 10 minutes. Just shoot for that 10 minute walk once a day! You can do it! :)

have you figured out why everything has been a free for all? What happened?

  3. I have to tell ya, I know exactly how you feel. I went through months and months and months of feelling like this. But, I realized that instead of knowing that I "have to stop the instanity soon and start turning things around", I realized that day would NEVER come, unless I did something RIGHT NOW.

I don't know how many times I said "starting next week" or "on Monday" or even "tomorrow"...I'll do something about my weight. But you know what? Those days just don't come...they are forever and always put off. The only way to make any progress is to do it TODAY. Start with telling yourself you will NOT eat more than 1800 calories. Write everything down, add up the calories, and stick to that goal. Then do it again tomorrow...and the next day...and the next. Don't worry about any other goal, just take one at a time. But don't ever put stuff off until tomorrow.

    Tomorrow never comes. ;)

    Sending positive vibes your way!!

  4. Hi! My best thought is to just worry about the next little choice ahead of you, NOT a overall huge weight loss. Can the next food choice be a really good one? and then when that one's over...Can the next food choice be a really good one? Each good choice in a day adds up. If you get more good choices than bad ones, you lose weight.

For exercising, sometimes you can break it up into 2 or 3 little sessions. If you can't manage to walk so much at one time, how about dividing your walking goal by 3 and walking 3 times but only 1/3 of the walking each time. --Just an idea. :D

As always, I'm cheering you on. :D

  5. Checking in here is a good first step!

I believe you're capable of achieving those goals (and then some), but if it feels like too much for right now, just focus on one to get your momentum going again.

  6. I think the goals are a great idea! Sometimes, a small victory helps us have the confidence to strive for bigger goals. I know you can do this! I think Cammy's right, if you feel overwhelmed or stressed, focus on one improvement at a time. Even a small accomplishment is something to celebrate!

  7. Roly,
Also sending positive vibes your way! I agree with everyone that one small change at a time may seem more manageable.

I do have a question for you - do you see an Endocrinologist for your diabetes? I am just wondering as that could be where you could get some support in the way of a dietitian and support group. Just a thought. I know for me, I cannot do my weight loss on my own anymore and am going to my Doctor tomorrow regarding my liver disease and getting more support to that end with a dietitian and possibly a specialist.

    Thinking of you! xo
