Especially crock pot meals you can have right when you walk in the door. Put it on low when you leave in the morning and it can cook all day. You can even make the meals ahead of time, freeze them, dump them in the crock pot and go. It might not be realistic to think you're going to cook when you both work hard and are stressed. 8 pc nuggets at Chik-fil-a are only 250 calories! It's almost all protein and few carbs (no waffle fries, though). How about a pre-cooked rotisserie chicken from a grocery deli? I do that a lot! Eating out doesn't have to mean you've failed! I agree with the other commenters, it's not about crossing your fingers but reminding yourself that the other choice isn't good for you. It may be a lot easier to just grab food on the way home, but it's a lot worse in the long run.Joannahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13807379587473251820noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2503444832032559761.post-10666892562098419802013-08-16T10:52:45.572-07:002013-08-16T10:52:45.572-07:00My husband and I used to do the same thing. "...My husband and I used to do the same thing. "I will cook tonight. Well, now I am tired so you should cook." "I don't want to cook, we should eat out." It is a viscous cycle. So what we do now is plan all our meals for the week on Friday or Saturday and we each pick a few meals we can cook to be on the menu. That way if one of us really had an off day then the other can step in and cook their meal that night and the next night is the others turn. This has helped us immensely and taken the pressure off of both of us. Plus, once the food is in the house it is harder to justify eating out.

Water and gum in the car is a life saver for me as well. I also save a few almonds from my afternoon snack some days and eat those on the way home. You can do this! Just stick with it and eventually cooking becomes the habit and eating out feels off.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02192503056582823099noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2503444832032559761.post-53071334540144937482013-08-16T06:08:57.229-07:002013-08-16T06:08:57.229-07:00Hi Anna, yes my husband knows the plan. I need to step up and 1)cook and 2) not give him an out when he has already planned to cook. Water and gum are a good strategy, thanks.Losing The Rollshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16964981216899599058noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2503444832032559761.post-42735845237245670252013-08-16T04:58:39.028-07:002013-08-16T04:58:39.028-07:00I take it that your husband knows of your plan? I drank anything BUT water. I would have coffee, soda pop, fruit juice, milk, etc., etc. I read an article that said I needed at least 64 ounces of fresh drinking water daily minimum. I thought that was crazy talk. At that time I was drinking about one to two cups of water each day.

I bought myself a big 101 ounce water jug. I filled it in the morning and drank from it all day. I got the idea from spunkysuzi's blog. Anyway...once I increased my water consumption, the sodium issues went away, and the scales showed their appreciation by moving southward.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17690442668699466427noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2503444832032559761.post-82613710809496385232013-08-15T06:33:59.138-07:002013-08-15T06:33:59.138-07:00Congrats on eating more meals at home and tracking...Congrats on eating more meals at home and tracking. I've had to get a grip on my tracking lately, too, which was definitely slacking. The commute home is a weak time for me, too. By this time of day I'm ready for dinner and a 30 minute drive home seems like a loooong way sometimes. I started bringing small snacks to eat on the way home to tide me over until I get home.
