First, thanks for all the warm thoughts and wishes for our wedding anniversary. They made me smile.
We are experiencing one of the best/dry/warm summers I’ve
seen in the Seattle area since moving over hear seventeen years ago. I know the
rain is coming early next week, but while the sun is here I will enjoy it. Not that I am really doing much outdoors
these days, but I still like it warm and dry when I am outside and especially for
the commute to work.
Speaking of work, I am taking vacation next week. Saturday morning, I will travel over to North
Idaho to visit family for a few days and then head back to enjoy some rest at
home. It will be nice to have a whole
week off; I’ve been starting to feel a little burned out.
In my last post, I made a promise to myself to walk at least
2500 steps/day. I have kept that promise
every day since. I know it sounds like
small potatoes to most, but for this sedentary gal it takes work to get 2500
steps in a day. On more than one occasion
during the last week, my husband waited patiently for me to get into bed at
night as I marched around the house to reach my goal. I will continue with this
goal through September and then raise it to 3000 steps for October. I would like to continuously raise the goal
and am hoping that walking more each day becomes a habit or routine soon.
My eating this week hasn’t been horrible but it hasn’t been
great either. It’s still a struggle, but
I will keep trying. I am hopeful that I
can turn things around and still make some decent progress this month. The few days in Idaho will be tough with
food-pushing mom and wanting to visit our favorite restaurant, but other than that
I hope to eat sensibly. Hoping isn’t
doing and I know that. I’ve got to get
with the program already!
Hope all is well in your corner.
Hey, you're coming to visit me?! hehe I hope you have a really wonderful vacation! I love that you've been getting in your 2500 steps a day. Keeping that promise to yourself is awesome!
ReplyDeleteSo great you are keeping your promise on the walking! I am super proud of you!! Enjoy your vacation. :)
ReplyDeleteWell...2000 steps is roughly a mile, so that you are doing 500 steps more is very commendable. It means you are taking 2400 more daily steps than the average American. As you know I live in Montana. My favorite restaurant chain in Idaho is Shari's Restaurant. We don't have any Shari's in Montana. We have Perkins. Shari's has a much better selection of desserts. They have a black berry cheesecake that would be my food kryptonite if I were Superman. So...in that regard...I'm glad we don't have them around here. Though I have friended them on facebook:/ It's a love/hate relationship. Have fun in Idaho and give it my best:)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on doing all the steps, and have a great vacation! Travel safe!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a fun trip. :D
ReplyDeleteYou might try getting your mom on your side. Tell her how much you want to be healthier and how cool it would be to have her support? Might stop the food pushing. :) Have a wonderful vacation!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on meeting your goal! I love the fact that you finished it out before getting to bed too - that my dear is dedication!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time in Idaho with family - and no one makes you eat anything but yourself. :D Hugs and be safe!
Even small potatoes are good potatoes. :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your vacation!
Good for you for keeping your promise, that is awesome.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy your vacation, it is always good to get away.
Have loads of fun and relaxation.
Have a wonderful vacation! I wish we lived closer - I'd love to have a walking buddy and we could knock out some of those 2500 steps without realizing it (um, I talk a lot when I walk with someone). ;)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful vacation!!!
ReplyDeleteProud of you for getting in your steps!!!
Good on you for hitting your step goal! Little by little, just take baby steps toward more activity. I too am raising my step count a little each month. Right now I'm at 7500 steps daily aiming for 8000 starting October 1.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work!
Finally got back to gym today & put in 2300 steps in a 25-min workout on fancy "lateral" elliptical... The pedals scoop out sideways instead of a straight back-&-forth motion - I can really feel it tonight in my quads & adductors!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work/keep the faith...
Keep on marching along. That's dedication right there. ;)
ReplyDeleteThose steps add up! Have a wonderful trip!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right! You have to start somewhere! Don't diminish your accomplishment! Keep going!
